ONE DAY AWAY

It's one day out from my first contest since July. I was sick all last week with a fever, nausea, and other fun stuff. I ate nearly nothing, didn't train all week, and I lost ten valuable pounds. And while I still haven't trained at all this week because it's recommended to rest hard the week before a contest, I am ready.

In the nine months since I last competed, I've been training harder than ever. In that time, I've completely rehabbed my back, played a full rugby season, and left a multitude of personal records in the gym in my wake. The most notable of those personal records have been in overhead pressing.

The events tomorrow are good ones for me. The log press is 230 lbs for reps, and while that's a respectable weight, it's only average for lightweight amateurs. Never before have I been more confident in my log press than I am now. The farmers walk is always one of my best events, and tomorrow won't be any different. It's only 250 lbs per hand for 100 feet and there aren't any turns. I'm going to smoke it. Next up is a 500 lb deadlift for reps. If I bomb any event, it'll be this one, but I doubt I will. I easily pulled 500 in training two weeks ago, and in a contest, I'm always better than I am in the gym. The final event is the keg load. Five kegs ranging from 200lbs to 300 lbs will be waiting for me to yank them off the ground and toss them onto a four foot platform. They are going to go for a hell of a ride when I get to them.

I don't know why, but I've never felt like this before a contest. I'm rested, I'm confident, and I am ready.
