Chasing Kaz How To Series: Stone Loading - May 17, 2007

When I started training for strongman, I was lucky enough to work with a pro. This has saved me from hours and hours of learning by trial and error. As a trainer and strength coach I love helping people learn something new. I'm going to do a video series of how-to's for the basic strongman movements. If you can incorporate these into your regular training (even if you aren't a strongman) I guarantee you progress faster than you thought possible.
The first video is on stone loading, using the lapping technique. This is the most basic way to load a stone and a good way to develop your technique. If you find a place with stones, the lightest are usually around 200lbs. You may need to have a good lifting base under your belt before you get it up but don't get discouraged. Work the technique and your other basic lifts, and you will get better fast. If you want, you can make a smaller substitute stone with some sand and heavy duty garbage bags or go find a smaller stone in your back yard.
Go out there, find a stone, and get loading.
You can join a more extensive discussion of stone loading by hitting POST REPLY in the "How To: Load a Stone" thread of the ChasingKaz message board
