The Top Ten List - May 13, 2007

Even though the workouts are brutal and hurt like nothing else, I love being a strongman. Here is a list of 10 things that are unique to strongmen that keep me going everyday.

1. I walk down the street and think to myself; "You know, if I wanted to, I could just flip that car over."

2. 99.9% of the guys in the sport are cool and down to earth. It's a lot of fun talking to people from other parts of the country about how you train, and getting training equipment ideas from them.

3. I've never competed in any other sport that tested my mental and physical limits so thoroughly; and to me that's a lot of fun.

4. You can still find new and interesting ways to do things. Find an old safe, a field stone, and a chunk of cement then put them over your head and call it a "pressing medley".

5. You can justify eating steak twice a day seven days a week as proper recovery.

6. People associate the sport with "The Polish dude who's super ripped".

7. You can pretty much move anything in your house, office, whatever by yourself.

8. I can't play golf anymore. I consider that a good thing because I was horrible in the first place
and all it did was frustrate me.

9. Little kids think I'm a superhero. No, they really do and I don't tell them any different.

10. I don't have to wear suits anymore because I can't buy one off the rack that fits. This alone is good enough reason to love strongman

Hell fuckin' yeah, I am not a strongman but I do train rigorously to keep myself in fighint shape. It feels good to know you are capable of anything.

I threw my back out doing deadlifts the other day, and even that didn't stop me.
