This Week in Strongman 7/14/07 - July 13, 2007

This is a busy time of the year on the strongman circuit, and this weekend is no exception. The contests this weekend span the country and the events in one of them are downright bizarre. If I were anywhere near Shreve, OH, I'd do anything and everything I could to watch that contest. I've never seen a "Livestock Overhead Press" before.

West Coast Strongman II
Where: Auburn Performing Arts Center, Auburn, WA
When: Saturday 7/14 11:00 am
Events:
1. Arm over arm truck pull with Hummers
2. Log clean and press for reps
3. Tire flip, sandbag carry, sled drag medley
4. Farmers walk
5. Stones
Who: Mens and Womens lightweights and heavyweights

Shreve Country Style Strongman Challenge
Where: Shreve Pipe Yard- Harold Miller Memorial Park
Shreve, OH

When: Saturday 7/14 1:00 pm
Events:
1. Milk can carry (farmer carry)
2. Tire flip
3. Live overhead press (pigs, sheep etc.)
4. Hay bale throw (height-11 feet, timed)
5. Tractor pull
Who: Mens and Womens lightweights and heavyweights

Nebraska's Strongest Man
Where: American Legion Post #32, Papillion, NE
When: Saturday 7/14 10:00 am
Events:
1. Tire Flip
2. Max Log Press
3. Farmers Walk for Distance
4. Yoke
5. Truck Pull
Who: Mens LW, MW, HW, Masters

I'm starting to think that Strongman competitions stay away from the south-east...and I wanna watch one without driving for 10 hours. :(
